Activities
You’ll find date, time and place details for these activites on the ‘Calendar.’
Sunday Services are the primary occasions when the whole church gathers together each week to sing songs to worship to God, to pray, to learn from the Bible and to catch up with each other.
- Sunday School: During the 10:30am morning service, there are dedicated groups for children up to Year 8 (12 years old) in the adjoining church hall.
- Communion: is an integral part of the first evening service and the third morning service of each month.
- Baptism: We have a baptistry (small pool) within the church in which, from time to time, we baptise believers on request and profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
- Refreshments: are served at the end of morning and evening services (except Communion Services).
There are other activities for Children & Young People during the week under the banner of JBC-kers, and an after-school Bible Club on Friday afternoons.
Two or three times a year, we are involved in the running of 8-week ‘Christianity Explored‘ courses for those who would like to investigate the Christian faith for themselves in a relaxed and informal environment. The course is based on an evening meal, a presentation, discussion and your own study using Mark’s Gospel.
‘Home Groups‘ are small gatherings of JBC members during the week to pray together, support each other and study the Bible. There are several groups that meet at people’s homes across the island on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
There is a Women’s Own gathering for tea, chat and a presentation on Tuesday afternoons and a Ladies’ Bible Study on Thursday mornings.
There are regular prayer meetings in a side room 20 minutes before each Sunday Service; for ladies on Monday afternoons; and for the whole church at ‘Powerhouse’ in the church hall once a month on a Wednesday evening.
JBC is both engaged in and supportive of a number of ‘missionary’ enterprises both within Jersey and beyond – see Activities > Outreach.
There are lots of ways people get involved at JBC including welcome people at the door, flower arranging, setting up the sound equipment, taking care of the building, preparing meals for new parents, visiting the sick and the elderly. Most of these activities are co-ordinated by one of the Action Groups (“What are they?” > About Us > Structure).
Check the ‘Calendar‘ for other events such as ‘Create’ art classes, 5-a-side football, barbecues, fellowship lunches, and scavenger hunts.
